The Clinton, North Carolina and Sampson County area offers many activities and events for you to explore while visiting the Ashford Inn. From street fairs and summer festivals to civil war reenactments and triathlons, there are activities for all ages.
Downtown Clinton offers good old-fashioned shopping and eateries, and the Brooks Brothers outlet in Garland is a best value activity only 20 minutes away. Duplin Winery and the annual Muscadine Harvest Festival are fun day trips. Outdoor enthusiasts will take pleasure in canoeing the Black River or bird hunting at the George Hi Plantation or Mallard Cove. For some outdoor fun, Hubb’s Corn Maze offers country thrills, and Beartrack Farm offers tours of its Animal Welfare Approved facility and Organic treats! History buffs will enjoy the war reenactments at Bentonville Battlefield and the collections at Sampson County History Museum and the Sampson County Arts Council (Victor Small House). If you have never been to a hollerin’ contest this may be the time to go to Spivey’s Corner! When all else fails, there is always the beach! Beautiful Carolina beaches such as Wrightsville Beach are within one hour, and we have beach towels and chairs if you need them!

Beartrack Farm Originally, Beartrack Farm was nothing except field and trees—not even a barn, a fence, or a house to speak of. Farmer Sharon put in a greenhouse, a horse barn, three grain bins, and started a garden. Farm visits welcome, including shopping at The Little Kitchen, Sharon’s bake shop featuring products made from ingredients found on her farm.
Brooks Brothers Factory Outlet is a classic factory outlet, THE only real outlet in the world!
Duplin Winery is the largest winery in the Southeast! Visit and enjoy a free tour and free tasting with snacks!
Bentonville Battlefield offers an interactive driving map of key elements related to this battlefield.
Sampson County History Museum has buildings that depict life of our past.
Sampson County Arts Council/Victor Small House is home of some of the works of cutting-edge local artists.
